Paste Plus

A little help

Copy it. Save it.

Paste Plus turns copied images and text into files on macOS 14.6 or later. Here's how to get started.

Your first save

  1. Open Paste Plus and complete setup. Leave Save images and Save text enabled.
  2. Copy an image or some text from another app.
  3. Open a regular folder in Finder and press your global shortcut. New setups use ⌘ ⇧ V; you can change this in Paste Plus.
  4. Allow Finder Automation and access to the save folder if macOS asks. Paste Plus remembers the folders you authorize.

You can also open Paste Plus and click Save Clipboard. Turn on Save outside Finder and choose a destination under Save to to use this option.

Where did my file go?

When Finder is active, the shortcut uses the folder you're viewing. Outside Finder, it uses your default save folder if Save outside Finder is on. After saving from the app, click Show in Finder to reveal the file.

Choose a format

Use File formats in the main window. Images support PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and HEIC; JPEG and HEIC have quality controls. JPEG places transparent areas on a white background. HEIC requires supported image encoding.

Text supports plain text, RTF, and HTML. Rich formatting and links depend on what the source app places on the clipboard. Text exports do not package embedded attachments into companion files.

Names and existing files

Open Filename patterns to customize names. If a name already exists, Paste Plus adds a numbered suffix rather than silently replacing the file.

Files already on the clipboard

Paste Plus exports copied image and text content. To copy existing files or folders, use Finder's normal Paste command.

App preferences

The header gear opens appearance, Dock and menu bar visibility, and optional Open at login. You can pause saving from the menu bar or the main window.

Beta feedback

If you're testing through TestFlight, you can send feedback there. Beta builds may have issues; check exported files before relying on them.
